Full Metal Jacket is a war film directed by Stanley Kubrick, set during the Vietnam War. The movie follows a group of young Marines as they undergo basic training and then are sent to fight in the war. The story is divided into two parts - the first part focuses on the intense and brutal training the soldiers endure under the supervision of the tough and demanding Senior Drill Instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. The second part follows the soldiers as they experience the harrowing realities of combat in Vietnam. The protagonist, Private Joker, is a young Marine who evolves from a naive recruit to a hardened soldier throughout the film. The movie explores the dehumanizing effects of war on the soldiers and the moral and psychological challenges they face. Full Metal Jacket presents a raw and unflinching portrayal of the harsh realities of war, the bonds formed between soldiers, and the struggle to maintain humanity in the face of adversity and violence.
