Sarah and Phil, a couple living in a small town, experience the unimaginable tragedy of their young son's disappearance. Despite a thorough investigation, the boy is never found, leaving Sarah and Phil shattered and unable to cope with the loss. The incident takes a toll on their relationship, leading them to drift apart emotionally. Sarah, a teacher, becomes increasingly detached from her students and colleagues, while Phil, a police officer, becomes obsessed with finding the perpetrator. As they struggle to come to terms with their grief, Sarah and Phil find themselves in a downward spiral, each turning to destructive coping mechanisms to numb the pain. Sarah immerses herself in risky behavior, seeking solace in the company of strangers, while Phil becomes increasingly aggressive and volatile. Their friends and family try to offer support, but Sarah and Phil are unable to connect with them, consumed by their own anguish. As time passes, the couple's despair deepens, and they are forced to confront the harsh reality that their lives will never be the same. In a moment of clarity, Sarah and Phil realize that they must find a way to move forward, to honor their son's memory and find a sense of peace. With the support of a grief counselor, they slowly begin to heal, finding solace in the memories of their son and the love they shared as a family. Through their journey of grief and healing, Sarah and Phil discover the resilience of the human spirit, as they find a way to navigate the meadowland of their grief and emerge on the other side, forever changed but still standing strong.
