Mid90s is a coming-of-age film set in Los Angeles in the mid-1990s. The movie follows 13-year-old Stevie, who lives with his troubled single mother and abusive older brother. Feeling disconnected and seeking a sense of belonging, Stevie befriends a group of older skateboarders at a local skate shop. The group, made up of Ray, Fuckshit, Fourth Grade, and Ruben, welcomes Stevie into their circle, and he quickly becomes infatuated with the skateboarding culture and lifestyle. Stevie begins to spend all of his time with the older boys, becoming more involved in their reckless antics and partying. As Stevie tries to navigate his way through the complexities of adolescence, he experiences the thrill of new friendships, but also the dangers of peer pressure and risky behavior. Amidst the chaos of his new social life, Stevie struggles to find his own identity and cope with the challenges at home. The film captures the raw and authentic essence of youth, exploring themes of friendship, rebellion, and self-discovery. As Stevie immerses himself in the world of skateboarding, he learns valuable lessons about loyalty, maturity, and the importance of staying true to oneself.
