The Lion King (2019) follows the story of Simba, a young lion prince who is destined to succeed his father, Mufasa, as the king of the Pride Lands. However, Simba's uncle, Scar, harbors jealousy and resentment towards Simba and Mufasa, as he desires the throne for himself. Scar hatches a devious plan to kill Mufasa and Simba, seizing control of the Pride Lands for himself. Tragically, Mufasa is killed by a stampede orchestrated by Scar, and Simba is led to believe that he is responsible for his father's death. Overcome with guilt and shame, Simba flees the Pride Lands, leaving behind his family and friends. In his absence, Scar takes over the kingdom and rules with an iron fist, leading the Pride Lands into a state of despair and ruin. Lost and alone, Simba is taken in by a meerkat named Timon and a warthog named Pumbaa, who teach him their carefree way of life. As Simba grows up, he is visited by the spirit of his father, who implores him to return to the Pride Lands and reclaim his rightful place as king. With the help of his newfound friends and his childhood companion, Nala, Simba gathers the courage to confront his past and confront Scar. In a climactic battle, Simba and Scar face off, with the truth about Mufasa's death coming to light. Simba ultimately triumphs over Scar, reclaiming his throne and restoring peace and prosperity to the Pride Lands. With the circle of life restored, Simba takes his place as the rightful king, embracing his destiny and the legacy of his father, Mufasa.
