In 17th century France, King Louis XIII dies and is succeeded by his cruel and oppressive son, King Louis XIV. The people of France suffer under the tyranny of the new king, who is manipulated by his power-hungry minister, Cardinal Mazarin. However, unknown to the public, there is a secret twin brother of the king, Philippe, who has been imprisoned in the Bastille and forced to wear an iron mask to conceal his identity. The true king's loyal Musketeers, led by the aging but still valiant D'Artagnan, are determined to overthrow the tyrannical rule of Louis XIV and restore Philippe to the throne.
