Will Penny is a 1967 Western film directed by Tom Gries and starring Charlton Heston as the title character, Will Penny. The movie is set in the late 19th century and follows the story of Will Penny, an aging cowboy who works as a line rider for a cattle ranch. Will is a loner who has spent most of his life on the trail and has never had a home or a family. While on a job, Will encounters a young woman named Catherine Allen and her son, who are stranded in the wilderness after their wagon breaks down. Will helps them and reluctantly allows them to stay at his makeshift camp until they can find a way to get to safety. As Will spends time with Catherine and her son, he begins to develop feelings for her, and she in turn starts to see the good in him. However, their budding romance is threatened by the arrival of a ruthless gang led by a man named Preacher, who is determined to claim Catherine as his own. Will must confront his own demons and find the courage to protect the woman he loves and her son from the dangerous outlaws. The movie explores themes of love, redemption, and the struggle to find a place in the world, as Will Penny is forced to confront his past and make a stand for his future.
