Ogden is an introverted high school student who feels like an outcast in his own community. He spends most of his time observing the people around him and feeling disconnected from the world. His only solace is his job at the local supermarket, where he can blend into the background and go unnoticed. However, Ogden's life takes an unexpected turn when he witnesses a mysterious girl, Beth, shoplifting at the store. Intrigued by her rebellious nature, Ogden becomes infatuated with Beth and starts to follow her around, trying to understand her enigmatic personality. As he delves deeper into Beth's world, Ogden discovers that she is part of a group of thrill-seeking teenagers who engage in risky and illegal activities for fun. Drawn to the excitement and sense of belonging that he has never experienced before, Ogden decides to join Beth's group. However, as he becomes more involved in their dangerous exploits, Ogden begins to question his own moral compass and the true nature of his relationship with Beth. The story takes a dark and twisted turn as Ogden's journey of self-discovery leads to unexpected consequences and a shocking revelation about Beth's troubled past. Buttwhistle is a quirky and thought-provoking tale of teenage rebellion, identity crisis, and the tumultuous path to adulthood.
