Nathan Fisher is a thirtysomething writer who has hit a rough patch in his life. His long-term girlfriend, Erika, breaks up with him, and his father, who suffers from advanced Parkinson's disease, has a stroke. Feeling lost and directionless, Nathan decides to escape his problems by visiting his family in Florida. Upon arriving, he is greeted by his eccentric mother, who is an artist and free spirit. Nathan's mother encourages him to relax and take some time to figure out his life. As Nathan spends time with his family, he begins to reflect on his own failures and shortcomings. He reconnects with his estranged uncle, who is a successful author, and seeks guidance from him. Through his uncle's mentorship and the support of his family, Nathan starts to find renewed inspiration for his writing. Along the way, he also meets a charming young woman named Zoe, who helps him see the potential for new love and happiness in his life. As Nathan navigates the complexities of family dynamics, love, and self-discovery, he learns that sometimes, hitting rock bottom can be the first step toward rebuilding a better life.
